Short Bio

I am a self taught Southwest Ohio painter and sculptor influenced by industry, landscape, pollution, contradiction and the vernacular. After college I worked at Armco Steel in Middletown Ohio.

Statement

There is joy and freedom in the art struggle. It's a positive addiction. It manifests as biography or accident. The result is a reality more perfectly seen. 

Biography

After six years at Armco Steel Gary left to make art. He has won various awards including one for photography. Some recent work is digitally composed or digitally altered. His work is in private and public collections. 

Resident
In the Great Miami River valley in a factory town his grandfather, father and he worked in a steel mill. Life was shift work nature and the domestic the garage and crochet basement tools gardens engines and doilies stores advertising signs trailers commerce and television and popular music. Now he lives in the Little Miami River valley with thousands of years of Native presence in the landscape. His art is these myriad perceptions collected in these river systems and the unexpected that occurs while working.
